Mapping the World: Maps and Travel Literature archive includes a myriad of maps representing the long nineteenth century. Selections have been culled from the vast map repositories of the British Library and the National Archives at Kew. In addition to these large map collections, maps representing the Americas, and in particular America’s westward expansion, have been provided by the American Antiquarian Society

 

Photography: The World through the Lens explores the transformative role of photography in the 19th century, offering visual evidence to complement textual sources on global history and culture. Released in 2013 and enhanced in 2019, this archive includes photographs, albums, and texts on topics such as exploration, colonization, portraiture, science, war, and daily life.

Materials are sourced from esteemed institutions like the British Library, National Archives, Victoria and Albert Museum, and Library of Congress. This comprehensive resource is invaluable for studying the historical, cultural, and social impact of photography worldwide.
