הספרייה שמחה לארח אוסף ייחודי של יצירות מעשה טלאים, הכולל מעל 40 עבודות המוקדשות לבתי כנסת במרכז אירופה, בעיקר בצ'כיה, מחוות אמניות אגודת מעשה הטלאים הצ'כית, Patch Fanynky.
הטריגר למעשה האמנותי היה פרויקט שימור המורשת 'עשרת הכוכבים', במסגרתו שופצו ושוחזרו עשרה אתרים יהודיים במחוזות אלה. הפרויקט הביא לתשומת לב ציבורית ולגילוי מחדש – בין היתר, ע"י האמניות – של בתי הכנסת ושל העולם שבו היו נטועים.
הציר המשותף לעבודות באוסף הוא החלון: בלב כל עבודה בית כנסת אחד, וכל בית כנסת מיוצג באמצעות חלון ממשי או מטאפורי, על בסיס הטכניקה, האינטרפרטציה האמנותית ואוסף הדימויים בהם בחרה האמנית להשתמש. העבודות מצטרפות לסיפור רטרוספקטיבי עשיר ורב-גוני, מעשה טלאים בפני עצמו, סיפורה של הקהילה היהודית בצ'כיה, מנקודת מבטן העכשווית של האמניות הצ'כיות.
התערוכה מוצגת בקומת הקרקע של הספרייה עד סוף מאי ופתוחה לקהל הרחב.

The Brender-Moss Library for Social Sciences, Management & Education is privileged to host a patchwork collection consisting of over 40 works dedicated to synagogues in the Czech Republic.
The collection was produced by the Czech quilter art society, Patch Fanynky. The recent restoration of 10 local Jewish cultural heritage sites as part of the ’10 Star’ project has sparked renewed interest in the Jewish community and led to this beautiful artistic tribute by Patch Fanynky.
Windowpanes constitute the collection's point of departure. Each work focuses on an individual synagogue, represented through a window (concrete or symbolic), framed and elaborated through the artist's choice of technique, artistic interpretation, imagery and cultural references. As a whole, they provide us with a nuanced and multi-layered retrospective account of Jewish life in the Czech republic, from the contemporary viewpoint of the Czech artists.
The exhibition is presented at the Library's ground floor until the end of May, 2024.
